Heartland Wines, Spice Trader, Cabernet Sauvignon, Langhorne Creek, 2014

Garnet coloured with slightly cherry red edges. Good Cabernet nose with blackcurrant, blackberry/pastille, spearmint, baking spices, coffee grounds, toasty oak nuances and a leafy vegetal lift. Medium to full bodied, with a core of sweet black fruit but lingering heat gives it a slightly jammy quality. The tannins are blockish, firm and mouth coating. Unfortunately comes across as a thing of structure with the fruit feeling out of balance. Maybe time in the bottle will assist.
