The label on the Fossil Hill range from Angullong celebrate the inland sea that delivered nutrient rich fossils to the foothills of Mount Canbolas, Orange NSW.
Angullong, Fossil Hill, Sangiovese, Orange, 2016
A dull garnet colour. Aromas of Cola, cola nut, cherry, leather, light beef stock, strap licorice, baked spice and coconutty oak. Gumption to take on Chianti; to have an Aussie take on Sangiovese. This doesn’t tread lightly: a herbal, baked fruit melange that feels dull, blunt and not exciting on the palate. Dark herby fruit with citrus rind and some bright highlights of acidity but ultimately it turns out to be somewhat of an okay dry red.
