Beechworth is a very important part of the Brokenwood jigsaw, with Pinot’s Gris and Noir coming from these sub-alpine vineyards.
Brokenwood, Pinot Gris, Beechworth, 2017
A little less full than the 2016 , this opens with light candlewax, honeysuckle, varietal pear skin and a touch of peach cobbler + whipped cream depth. Cumquat and lime with brown pear flesh/juice and hints of white peach. Definitely in the Gris, not Grigio spectrum: Just medium bodied with enough heft for this to handle weightier dishes, it still remains fine with refreshing acidity to shine brightly.
