Single vineyard fruit from the Riversdale vineyard in Frankland River, in the deep south of Western Australia.
Singlefile, Riversdale Vineyard, Shiraz, Frankland River, 2016
This has profound ground spice and violets with raspberry, plum, choco deep rose petals and a savoury balance of licorice with a smoky/vegetal grilled kale. This herby note follows through into the palate with anise driven licorice and pepper. There’s smoky cigar end and chary oak dominating dark berries with blocky tannins. Finishes with a touch of heat. For me, not quite as balanced as the 2015.
