The 2017 vintage was down on yield by 25% according to winemaker Franco D’Anna. To keep this fresh and fruit expressive, only 1st and 2nd fill French oak used.
Hoddles Creek Estate, Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley 2017
Opens smoky and chalky with dusty light red cherry fruits and hints of stalky red licorice. The palate tightly bound with fine tannins, yet offers cheeky red fruit flesh pulses. Bright acidity bounces along to provide impetus. Lingering stalky herbs provide “forest floor” herbaceous pinosity as the detail tails long out to shade. Not a hair out of place.
