Mandala The Matriarch Pinot Noir 2015

So named after Charles Smedley’s (winemaker) mother.  From Dixon’s Creek region of the Yarra. Single clone (MV6), 50% new, 25% each one year and two year old French oak (barriques).

Mandala, The Matriarch, Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley, 2015

Serious Pinot Noir time here: Dark chocolate, cinnamon, kirsch, dark raspberry, vanilla paste, blue plum and bluestone. Raw and intense, rippling tannin and lengths of focused, tight black and red fruit. The finish is the proverbial peacock tail, fanning wide with fine filigree. An excellent wine with a long future.

RRP: $50
