This vintage has the same fruit split as the 2015: 86% sourced from Woodside, Adelaide Hills and the rest from McLaren Vale. Same for the fermentation: 25% in stainless steel and the rest in new and 1 year old French oak. Almost a “recipe” wine?
Shingleback, Kiss Me Kate, Chardonnay, Adelaide Hills, 2016
Firmly camped in the richer end of the chardonnay spectrum. Stone fruit, grapefruit pith, lemon drops, Jersey caramel cream/sweet and sandalwood. Delivers a worked, broad mashed legume like palate with Golden Delicious apple, bran, lime and a smoky finish. Just-medium length of flavour and medium acidity. Perfectly serviceable, if a little unexciting.
RRP: $25
Alc: 12.8%
