This 70/30, co-fermented split from grapes farmed biodynamically (by the Yangarra Estate) in the sandy Blewitt Springs. Wild ferment and maturation in old French oak.
Brash Higgins, GR/M, Grenache, Mataro, McLaren Vale, 2016
Certainly a wine with personality. It drives forward with ash and bubblegum before cooling earthy bluestone lays foundations for musk, raspberry and bloody meat. Sharp, taut, tangy and textural under a wash of blue and red fruits along with fig, chocolate, rosewater and mint. Fine sandy tannins that feel a little gritty round out the finish. The interplay between the co-fermented varieties provides plenty of interest.
