Gartelmann, Jesse, Shiraz, Mudgee, 2014
Earthy and dusty with distinct choc/nut elements. Ferrous, iron flecks among the preserved plum, strawberry and raspberry fruit spectrum. Broad palate with bittersweet chocolate character with earthy, pervasive tannins and at this stage in its life: afterthoughts of red fruit straps and a vanilla kiss. Still ducking, weaving, twisting in and around itself. There’s a pinprick of heat and needles the long finish, but doesn’t deflate it.
