Sourced from the Filsell vineyard’s near century old vines planted 1920 in the Barossa. French and American oak maturation for 21 months. Is a cellar staple for many.
Grant Burge, Filsell, Shiraz, Barossa, 2016
Plenty of plums (red and blood), dark chocolate and chocolate licorice bullets with plenty of Christmas cake spice. Generous palate that still maintains a freshness without being heavy handed. Whilst the oak is evident, it stays true to style and is unapologetic. Finishes with good length of sandy tannins.
