Maturation for 18 months in new and old (seasoned) French oak.
Longview, Devil’s Elbow, Cabernet Sauvignon, Adelaide Hills, 2016
Upon opening, the oak makes for a sweet experience, but a little oxygen gives life giving breath to the black cherry, blackberry, mulberry, sweet Easter bun spice, soft/dusty chalk with distinct earthy undergrowth and capsicum notes. Slick palate with fine silky tannins. There’s a fine, restrained structure underneath the polished fruit. A hint of tarry warmth gives a devil’s grin of cheekiness. Eminently enjoyable, just a little too up front for top points.
