Labelled at 16%. I admit I’m apprehensive.
Kalleske, Buckboard, Durif, Barossa Valley, 2017
Black jelly bean, cold asphalt, ropey licorice, just plucked kitchen herbs, anise and mint, toasty oak brackets. Intense. A full-bodied juggernaut this pushes forward without any apologies or second thoughts. The herbal leitmotif strong over dark fruit, seasoned well with concentrated vanilla american oak. Hits hard and sharp. Chewy tannins demand a cud-like maceration.
