4% wild ferment this vintage with 14% of the Viognier fermented in aged French oak.
d’Arenberg, The Hermit Crab, Viognier, Marsanne, McLaren Vale, 2018
Dripping with barley sugar and browning butter, brown pear and ripe apricot flesh, spicy celery seed nuances and fragrant sandalwood. Medium bodied with dry, savoury edges to spiced apricot stonefruit. Has a pleasant centre line acid spine to maintain vibrancy through a just-toothsome palate. A bargain for an ‘alternative’ white wine.
