Red Knot by Shingleback, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2017

Brightly coloured: bruise purple with a violet rim. Fruit rich aromas: strawberry coulis sweetened with vanilla laced oak (French and American), tempered with a little McLaren Vale graphite, meatiness and chalk. Medium to full bodied with easy red/black fruits and smooth palate. A touch of grip and chocolate to the finish. Nothing overtly complex yet perfectly serviceable and exhibiting fruit characteristics rather than confection which many do at the entry level.
