62% Grenache from Steve’s favourite non-estate vineyard, co-fermented with 29% from his Koomilya vineyard. The Touriga kept separate until post fermentation and blending. MLF in steel before maturation in large format vats. The label colour almost identical to the wine in the glass.
S.C. Pannell, Grenache, Shiraz, Touriga, McLaren Vale, 2017
Rich tapestry of comforting, warming aromas: plenty of spice driven violet leaves under Turkish Delight chocolate. There’s a touch of tobacco spice to dark raspberry and cherry. Seamless, silky on the palate and made for drinking pleasure right now: a medium body, stretched out to almost full. There’s a fine element of tannin, provoking a tongue clacking at the finish. Juicy, spicy and more-ish.
