A relative newcomer to the Best’s ‘Concongella’ range, first made in 2015. The fruit comes from two vineyards, one of which was owned and operated by the late, legendary Kim Ludvigson. Kim passed away on his vineyard in 2014 and Best’s have honoured him by naming the wine ‘Ludvigson’ Shiraz Viognier.
Winemaker Justin Purser co-ferments the small parcel (2%) of Vigonier with the Shiraz.
Best’s Great Western, LSV, Shiraz, Great Western, 2017
Rich garnet with a bright rim. The 2% Viognier gives an aromatic lift to the nose: whole bunch spice along with regional rotundone pepper, raspberry, chocolate and nutmeg. Suave, silky and incredibly attractive on the palate. Medium bodied with fine, tight weave tannins and a bright, yet savoury finish. Sophisticated and great value.
