Shiraz. The mainstay red grape of the Australian wine industry. Longview’s iteration spends 15 months in new and older French oak.
Longview Vineyard, Yakka, Shiraz, Adelaide Hills, 2017
Spice driven and rich. Black jelly bean, tarry edges, “ink eraser” minerality, dark chocolate buttons, raspberries and plum fruit. Richly structured palate. The bright fruit skirting the top of oak influenced tannin. Feels almost at 6s & 7s as it moves through development and will eventually grow into its structure. Go for richer foods now that need the cut from the acidity or simply wait a little while.
