Chardonnay….Coonawarra’s flagship white variety? Why not!? 13% of the fruit was new French oak maturation for an average of 10 months.
Katnook Estate, Chardonnay, Coonawarra, 2018
Pale gold hue. Flinty match strikes underpin bread crust lees work with lemon rind and pith. Subtle toasty oak with yellow nectarine skin and grapey aromas. Depth and upfront richness with toothsome phenolic grip. A handsome wine offering oak spice to support grapefruit citrus and nectarine like flavours. Acidity is subtle, yet present, ensuring brightness through the finish. A solid Chardonnay for those that like bolder styles.

Is this one I should try when I am in OZ in August?
Absolutely! Try them all! π But seriously, this does fall into the ‘bolder’ Chardonnay camp.
Good to know. Thanks. I will definitely give it a good try. π
