The heavy end of the new “Macclesfield” range from Longview, with evocative labels that show “ethereal photographs of sculptures from (our) vineyard – hewn from Macclesfield pink marble.”
Longview, Macclesfield, Cabernet Sauvignon, Adelaide Hills, 2019

Brooding and earthy. Blackberry, mulberry and black olive fruit over gravel, molasses, tobacco ash, mossy earth and dark bittersweet chocolate. Dark, brooding and so so tight. Smears of dark fruit over puckering mesh tannins. Not green or wan in ways that “cool climate” Cabernet can be, this is a wine of structure that will take many years to uncoil and present its true self.
