Little Giant Little Batch Cabernet Malbec 2020

Another Barossa blend from Fourth Wave Wine’s Little Giant “Little Batch” range. Historically there’s probably been plenty of this blend, but very little named from the region (Clare takes a bit more top billing for these two).

Little Giant, Little Batch, Cabernet/Malbec, Barossa Valley, 2020

Little Giant Cabernet Malbec Little Batch NV No Shadow

Liquoricey herbal with dark cherry and black currant pastille melding neatly with plenty of varietal chomped cigar and sweet cedary oak. Some distinct leafy spice and roast beetroot earthiness. Slick, clean and smooth with a real sheen from front to back through bigger than you realise palate. It’s just a bit too suave, and while there’s a passing smack of tannin, just not quite enough grunt to give it a full spine. Lingering flavour is that of youthful Barossa fortifieds of days past before a bright flourish. It’s a pleasant drink and I’d be keen for some sweet Spring lamb chops as a pairing.
