One of Australia’s benchmark Cabernets and one of the most cellared. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t at least appreciate this wine. Sue Hodder and Sarah Pidgeon have continued to refine the style over the years where mid-weight elegance is at the forefront while maintaining the structural frameworks such that its famed longevity is never questioned. Buy with confidence (for usually much lower than the RRP).
Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Black Label, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, 2021

A focused heart of cassis, overlaid with ganache, powdered cocoa, a little leafy tobacco lift, some crushed small peppermint leaves, a touch of umami olive to graphite and blooming violets. Balanced and fine with those powdery, fine cocoa tannins so evenly spread and long underneath delicate but ripe fruit (red and black). Refreshing acidity cleans the long tail while the oak treatment is sublime. Another winner in this Wynnsday release.
