Wynns Coonawarra Estate Glengyle Cabernet 2021

The Glengyle vineyard is just north of V&A (Victoria & Albert) Lane, and is a fragment of John Riddoch’s 474 Block. Planted on its own roots with pre-clonal material in 1969. Glengyle has previously been released as a single vineyard in 2007 and 2009 previously. This vintage was average for temperature with low rainfall, while the grapes are amongst the “earliest harvested Cabernet of the season.”

Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Glengyle Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, 2021

Hyper concentrated and floral: inky cassis and distilled violets, touches of malty and coffeed oak, chocolate wafers, a touch of mint, fresh earth and crushed blackberry. Supple and flowing. Restrained and elegant dark fruit emboldened with bright, juicy acidity and hyper fine knit tannins. Incredibly built that balances the ability for a delicious drink now but more than one eye on the future.
