The Woodfired series has been popular for De Bortoli and Grenache from Heathcote is a known hunting ground for Steve Webber and the winemaking team. So if 1 is good, 2 is better, right?
De Bortoli, Woodfired, Grenache, Heathcote, 2021

A little simple. There’s definite Grenache red jubey love along with a little mineral pink salt for interest. A touch of minty herb but otherwise a sweet fruit melange with an odd mushroom, papery note and sugary mocha. It’s slurppable and juicy but a little one dimensional with a steely, waxy shortish finish. Hyper fine, fleeting tannins give brush past on the way through. Woodfired pizza match for sure.
