Bishop by Ben Glaetzer Shiraz 2021

Bishop is the family name of Ben’s mother Judith. 16 Months maturation in a mix of French (90%) and American oak (10%), with 40 % being new and the rest 2 to 3 year old hogsheads.

Bishop, Shiraz, Barossa Valley, 2021

Bruise purple to ermine in the glass. Meaty depth, charcuterie and peppercorns, sweet cedary oak and a metallic nebulae of gun smoke and flint. A little black olive, milk chocolate and vanilla compote. Medium to full with a concentrated, dense, broad swathe of dark fruit from the old to centurion vines. Oak and pepper spice give frame while slightly coarsely hewn tannin rumbles through a finish of ruby grapefruit, chunky plum and chocolate. A little on the chunky side but will definitely find fans.
