Okay….I said last release that there’d been no price rise in 5 years. So, this is now 6 years in a row that this stays the same price! Sourced from Ebenezer in the north of the Barossa: 84% Shiraz (from 50-80 year old vines) and 16% Grenache (50 – 100 years old!). The Shiraz matured for 16 months in 2-3 year old hogsheads (80% French and 20% American) while the Grenache had next to no oak treatment to retain the vitality of the fruit.
Wallace, Shiraz, Grenache, Barossa Valley, 2021
Gunflint and steel over cracked peppercorn, licorice ‘bullets,’ vanilla oak kisses, a little turned mossy earth, raspberry and fleshy plum. Medium bodied with the retained juiciness of the Grenache giving plenty of lift to slightly stretched Shiraz fruit and providing a fresh pop through a medium tail. Fine, drying tannin for an easy finish. Plenty to like for the price.
