Yalumba rebranded their great value 2 Litre casks a little while ago to be under the ‘Winesmiths’ name and still part of the Hill-Smith Family Estates but that doesn’t change the quality of what’s inside the box. Certified Organic. Vegan friendly (if that’s important to you). Winemaker is Heather Fraser.

Mid to deep garnet hue. Varietal and plush nose: blackberry, tobacco leaf, black cherry, violets, char and cocoa powder with leafier spectrum elements of mint and green capsicum. Fruit full and forward, but not simple. There’s plenty of varietal dark fruits with plenty of polish in the mod-Oz, mid-weight Cabernet mode. A grip of proper tannins through a decent length of a finish. More than a cut above your average cask.
