Plenty of awards for this release from Angullong. The wine matured for 12 months in French Oak (20% new). Note, bottle image is 2018, but only nought other differences
Angullong, Fossil Hill, Barbera, Orange, 2022
Fragrant and fruity. Plenty of black and red cherry, a touch of blueberry and raspberry with hints of fennel and fresh basil topped off with chunks of dark chocolate. Medium bodied with supple tannin. Plentiful acidity to drive freshness and providing lift. Suave and attractive with echoes of dark spice, herb and char.
RRP: $30
Alc: 14.5%
Rating: 92/100

Interesting to see that Huon Hooke didn’t quite warm to this and a few other wines that Jeff Byrne from Byrne Farm made for them……
I’ve not seen Huon’s review of the range. He does have a very good palate, but each to their own.
