Wild fermented and Vegan friendly. Yalumba have access to some great Cabernet fruit, so no surprises on quality for price here. Braille on the label is also a nice touch (get it?). Winemaker is Alexey Alon Dumbuay.
Yalumba, The Y Series, Cabernet Sauvignon, South Australia, 2021

Goodness, there’s a lot of Cabernet for the price. Big chunky varietal blackberry and cassis. Cool onyx stone, soft choc mint, campfire ash/earth and a touch of sweet charry oak influence. Smooth and sapid on the palate with the right amount of well priced puckering tannins under that house of shiny black fruit tempered by a little ash. Sure there’s a little warmth, and it’s not overtly complex and the finish isn’t so long, but it’s tasty and perfect for a mid week burger or weekend BBQ.
