Fruit coming from some of Pokolbin’s older vineyards, 12 months in French oak puncheons. Big jump in stated alcohol by volume from the 2022.
Gundog Estate, Hunter’s, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2023

Fruit toast, plum conserve, black pepper, clove studs, cassis, amaro herbs (think fernet style) with a steely edge. Ripe and flowing through a medium-plus body. Tannins firm and focused. Dusty, earthy close with good herby, peppery tones. Maintains Hunter elegance and class.
