Hand harvested fruit whole bunch pressed to new (40%) and one year old French oak barriques and underwent wild ferment. 11 months maturation (with occasional early lees stirring). Approximately 50% of the wine went through
Malolactic fermentation. Winemaker is next generation Rollo Crittenden. Heavy packaging and bottled under diam.
Crittenden Estate, Cri de Couer, Chardonnay, Mornington Peninsula, 2022

Pale lemon hue with green flecks. Serious and complex. Blonde wood, lemon zest, lemon pith, Christmas lilies, sweet brown spice, dried fig, apple pie, ghee, peanut oil, turned sandy blonde earth, sea spray and nectarine slices. Power and drive present as it travels through the journey of fruit and winemaking influences. Acidity is a pulse and throb (rather than a razor or shock) and is tempered by well judged oak, yet ensures drive. Incredible length of bright and precise fruit that steps in all the right places. An exceptional release.
