The relaunched Ivyburn label from CW Wines sees some heavy packaging and big wines. The First Minister labels area nod to the Rev. Isaac Prior, the inaugural minister to conduct services in the district.
Ivyburn, First Minister, Cabernet Sauvignon, McLaren Vale, 2021

Bruise purple with an ermine rim. Warm and ripe: tea cake spice, blackcurrant pastille, cassis, kirsch, blood, young leather, crushed bay leaf, kale leaf, fresh brewed black tea, just dug brown earth and a little cedary oak. Modern in style, pushing fruit forward while not quite having a firm base underneath to carry. Some lean and tight tones before chewy and waxy tannins. Tart black fruit that feels angular and nervy for the moment as it steps off lightly.
