Redman, stalwart of Coonawarra reach over the GI line to grab this fruit from their own vineyards in nearby Padthaway (technically Limestone Coast). Lightweight bottle and label made from recycled paper, showing the way the fourth generation of Redmans are taking this iconic family brand.

Redman, Sangiovese, Limestone Coast, 2023

Opaque with garnet rim. All soaking black cherry with highlights of sweeter maraschino, raspberry red, a little licorice, dried tobacco, a hint of garrigue herbs and lacquer. Slick and supple mid weight body: fleshy purple/red fruit studded with anise and herbs. Tannins are fine, drying yet firm through the tail before a little kick of acidity to freshen things up. Cuts through a topside roast piece of beef with ease.
