Pewsey Vale 1961 Block Riesling 2023

The original Pewsey Vale vineyard was planted in 1847, while fruit for the 1961 Block comes from the oldest (modern?) part of the vineyard. Handpicked, wild ferment and briefly matured on lees. Louisa Rose signature in the space of ‘winemaker’. Presented in old school green glass and a silver screw cap.

PV 1961 Block Riesling

Very pale colour. Rich and fragrant: preserved lemon and lime skin, elderflower, double cream, lemon myrtle, sliced fennel, fly spray/ozone and some slaty stone. As you would expect from the winemaking, there’s some serious texture and scintillating drive. Persistent and long, refined finish. Savoury (nearly salty/briny), dry and fantastic value.
