Normally I try to go with high resolution pictures these days, but I feel this captures the essence of the wine’s being…to be well matched with good food and shared.
This picked up a bit of gold medal bling and a trophy for the mantle at Steve’s place, so whilst there’s definitely a playfulness to the label, there’s a serious wine inside.
Black/purple pastille, jubey, bright, ripe and a little bit of rubber. A juicy, slupparble wine with plentiful purple/red fruit flavours and a moreish vitality. A hint of dark/savoury black olive edge to advise of the grape’s heritage and let you know it’s not a Shiraz, though it does proudly wear its McLaren Vale heart on its sleeve. Little lines if tannin and food happy acids. Bloody good value.
