Margaret River makes Australia’s best SB-S blends. There…I said it. Anyone want to argue? They don’t make the best Semillons (that’s Hunter Valley), nor do they make the best Sauv Blancs (take a bow Adelaide Hills). But for some reason, that Bordeaux white mix just seems to work so well over in the west. Maybe it’s the seaside…but I think it’s all the sunshine.
Flametree Wines, Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon , Margaret River, 2015
Pungent, but zingy and attractive smells with lemongrass and mandarin citrus sweet fruit balanced by green capsicum and crushed leaf herbaceous notes. Easy on the palate with those clean fresh lines. Mouthwatering acidity, even with the chill coming off the wine when drinking it in the sunshine, it doesn’t fall over, still sings with that light citrus. Summer in a bottle.
