2014: Cracker of a Hunter Valley vintage. Fruit almost picked itself. No pressure on the winery or the vineyards. Some observations out there that it’s a forward vintage, but the wines are drinking exceptionally well now and will do so for a long time in the future.
Margan White Label Semillon, Hunter Valley 2014
Rich lime and lemon and almost lush vanilla note, along with a balsa woodiness. A Splice Pine/Lime front palate before the high acidity kicks in. There’s a torque…a drive that keeps impelling this forward when the tinge of richness could weight it down, could make it seem too full. Excellent winemaking.
