Do not underestimate the quality and power of chardonnay in the Hunter. Silkman, Tyrrell’s and of course, Margan all have top examples.
Margan Family Vineyard Chardonnay, Hunter Valley, 2015
Partial fermentation in new French oak and sourced from 40 year old vines. Almond flesh, crisp figs, green stone fruit slices and finishing with the creaminess of lemon cheesecake. Maturation in barrel provides a joyous texture. Lemon/grapefruit citrus pith and hints peachy stone fruit. Acidity is med/high whilst honeysuckle blossom delivers contrast. Effortlessly drinkable and great value.
