Apparently Hannah’s Hill is a tribute name to a viticultural pioneer who worked this vineyard. Getting your name on a label is always a wonderful tribute.
West Cape Howe, ‘Hannah’s Hill’ Cabernet/Merlot, Frankland River 2014
A little bit of flint before blobs of dark berries: mulberry and blackberry. An iodine/fresh paint note before a sharp meatiness balances the fruit. Elegant black cabernet fruit slides easily along the palate, even a touch of black olive and char. The merlot softens things out for immediate enjoyment. Chalky tannins grip well and a warming character to finish. Never resorts to be a fruit bomb. Good drinking here.
