Champagne Duval-Leroy, Brut, Rêserve, Vertus, NV

Soft gold colour. Soda water brine, lemon pith, spiced bread crust, fresh pastry and kisses of rose petal. Very bubbly! Elegance and precise with linear drive and only a brief foray to opulence as an impulse readily controlled. Dovetails to textural wine rather than reliance upon bombastic red fruit blousiness and a hint of champignon meatiness. Finishes racing car finish line straight with spot on acidity. The cork removal was a little soft and didn’t augur well, so a very pleasant surprise. Good value.
