De Bortoli Sacred Hill Traminer Riesling 2016

Sacred Hill. I used to sell cartons of the range when I worked in retail. The price hasn’t changed much and the value is still there too. Plenty of bronze stickers from respected shows such as Adelaide and Perth. De Bortoli have just rolled onto the 2017 vintage. Winemaker is Gabrielle Ellis.

De Bortoli, Sacred Hill, Traminer Riesling, Riverina, 2016

A blend of riesling and (Gewurz)traminer. Aromatic lift of pink marshmallow, musk sticks and rosewater from the Traminer supplemented by waxy red apple, grilled lime and a fino nutty dryness. Fruit sweet front is a little simple and distracting before the riesling cuts it right back to a tropical fruit whisper. Just gravelly texture, spicy finish and apple crisp acidity make it good value for a takeaway night on the couch.
