Red Knot by Shingleback, Cabernet Sauvignon, McLaren Vale, 2016
Fragrant aromas of blackcurrant (bordering) cassis, boysenberry, pencils, herbaceous bay leaf, cedary French oak and new leather strap. Focused sweet fruit core with fresh blackberries and purple plump boysenberry which gives way to dusty, grippy, fuzzy tannin. Echoes of plum and spice linger. Usually a wine at this price point will taste of naught but fruit, so it’s a pleasure to find one such as this has decent structure and length.
