Sourced from old, dry grown vines that appear as small as bonsai.
d’Arenberg, The Bonsai Vine, Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre, McLaren Vale, 2015
Dark hearted purple colour. Spice driven nose with high citrus, baked raspberry muffin, liquorice bullets and glazed ham. Dances much lighter on the palate than the nose would have you believe. Fresh with fine tannins, there’s a core of refreshing acidity to drive forward the light red fruit structure balanced by a “bitters” flavour and black jelly beans. Old oak merely plays a supporting role.
