Heartland Wines have 3 named owners: Grant Tilbrook, Scott Collett and Ben Glaetzer who is also winemaker, so I can only assume they’ve been generous enough to put into bottle this range of “Directors’ (sic) Cut” for public sale rather than keeping it for themselves. Seriously though, it still proves that Langhorne Creek is one of the better value regions.
Heartland Wines, Directors’ Cut, Cabernet Sauvignon, Langhorne Creek, 2014
Opaque in the glass. Opens to sweet, almost Porty aromas with strong blackcurrant, savoury leather, cigar box and a vanilla/cola oak influence. Medium-full bodied but plenty of flavour: Blueberry, blackberry with sheets of fine tannin with the spiced/cola oak wrapping it all together. A little on the sweet side, but well structured.
RRP: $36
Alc: 14.5%
Rating: 17/20
