Heartland Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Langhorne Creek, 2014
Opens with encouraging Cabernet aromas of syrupy cassis, leather couches, cigar and campfire ash followed by fallen eucalytpus. Starts out with sweet blackcurrant fruit and a definite cola/vanilla streak, before subtle silky tannins, a decent length of flavour and an ashen echo. Not endowed with layers of complexity, but the riper fruits make it one for cooler (soon to be) autumn nights with braised lamb shanks. Ready to go now.
