Yarra Valley Cabernet sails somewhat under the radar…but can be a well crafted example.

Mandala, The Butterfly, Cabernet Sauvignon, Yarra Valley, 2014

Expressive nose, with sweet little blackberries over Cherry Ripe with toasty coconutty oak and some Rubber-tree plant leafiness. Fine yet obtuse tannin structure under pins the savoury, sweaty blackberry, turned earth, dried cranberry with pipe tobacco. Just medium bodied, this is more focused on fruit purity than overt oak and blocky tannins. Give it a little time.
