d’Arenberg The Hermit Crab Viognier Marsanne 2017

The 2 white varieties here are blended together with a parcel of the Viognier aged for 8 months in French and American oak for extra oomph.

d’Arenberg, The Hermit Crab, Viognier, Marsanne, McLaren Vale, 2017

Honey dipped yellow stonefruit, barley sugar, browned butter, green salad leaves and lemon citrus. Full, but approachable palate to not scare the horses too much. Savoury elements of green olive counter the ripe stone fruit. The wine retains vibrancy and lift to carry the natural richness of the grapes with the oak giving a pleasant grippy texture.  Good value.
