Fruit from fifty year old vines, fermented on skins for 11 days and 20 months maturation in American oak (25% new).
Huntington Estate, Special Reserve, Shiraz, Mudgee, 2015
A highly fragrant and lifted nose jumps from the glass: fresh earth, coffee grounds, blue stone / steel before fruits of plum, red currants, raspberries and well supported (but not dominated) by polished sweet oak. The palate ripe and generous, plummy and chocolately, sweet and seductive. Tannins do give frame, structure and allow the quality fruit to take centre stage.
