A new flagship release for Huntington Wines, with the eponymous Tim Stevens Signature, named after current custodian and winemaker. Matured for 18 months in American oak (60% new).
Huntington Estate, Tim Stevens Signature , Shiraz, Mudgee, 2016
Intense and concentrated aromas: dried fig, Belgian milk chocolate, light tobacco, with an umami of fresh young soy sauce over plum sauce and mulberries. Oak is sweet: vanilla/caramel edged. A heart of black fruit with plenty of chocolately goodness. House style, autobiographically writ large here from Tim Stevens. The earthy Mudgee legend whispers as an echo: It’s all about the rich fruit with a punctuation of that tobacco hint on the nose. A long finish with just chewy tannins, bordering astringency and giving an insight to a fine future.
