Shingleback, Local Heroes, Shiraz, Grenache, McLaren Vale, 2012
Just starting to creep into the mature, secondary spectrum of deeper, richer flavours: Some baked ham meaty characters over raspberry and blackberry coulis underpinned by a chalky earthiness and smears of molten chocolate. Reaching its zenith now. Tannins are perfectly integrated leaving a smooth, darkly fruited experience. There’s still lightness and elegance as par to the quality grenaches from the district and the lingering rose water/exotic spice finish is delicious. Drink up if you have it in the cellar.
