From the Matapiro Vineyard in Hawke’s Bay, this Pinot Gris does more than doff its cap to Alsace.
Church Road, Pinot Gris, Hawke’s Bay, 2018
Wild Ferment. Good golden hue through the colour. Rich aromas of nashi pear, light dough, stone fruit, feijoa and honey. Rich palate, carrying a fruit sweetness and maybe grams of residual sugar. There’s good acidity and bright floral characters, but the sweetness makes it a little cloying, rather than being balanced with the natural weight.
